As your chaperone, I’m here to make sure your delivery experience is safe, smooth, and successful. My main goal is to support you during each delivery by providing route guidance, checking your equipment, and offering safety reminders. I’m also your first point of contact for any real-time assistance you might need while on the job. Together, we’ll ensure you feel confident, prepared, and supported while delivering.

 

1. Welcoming New Bikers

  • Sign-Up Assistance: I’ll help new bikers through the sign-up process, ensuring they feel welcomed and informed.

  • Requirements Verification: It’s my job to confirm that each biker meets the necessary requirements, such as age, parental consent (for those under 18), and equipment readiness.

  • Parental Consent: For bikers under 18, I’ll verify that they have obtained consent from a parent or guardian to participate in the program.

 

2. Understanding the Difference Between a Chaperone and a Counselor

Both chaperones and counselors are here to support you, but we each focus on different aspects of your experience:

  • What a Counselor Does

    • Career Guidance: Counselors help you set career goals, develop valuable skills, and explore how delivery work can support your long-term aspirations.

    • Skills Development Support: They identify areas for growth, like customer service, time management, and physical fitness, and provide resources to help you improve.

    • Regular Check-Ins: Counselors reach out to discuss your progress, address challenges, and set new goals.

  • What a Chaperone Does

    • Real-Time Support: I’m here to provide immediate help with route guidance, safety reminders, or minor equipment issues you might encounter.

    • Safety Assurance: My responsibility is to ensure you follow safety guidelines, have the correct gear, and are ready for road conditions.

    • Immediate Problem Solving: If something unexpected arises—like needing directions or dealing with a minor bike issue—I’m your first contact to help find solutions and keep you on track.

  • What a Chaperone Does Not Do

    • While I support your daily delivery needs, I don’t provide long-term career advice or personal development plans. For questions about career paths, skill development, or future planning, I’ll direct you to your counselor.

 

3. Orientation: How It Works

    • Unexpected Delays or Challenges: For non-emergencies where extra guidance might help, keep parents informed and seek further assistance as needed.

 

7. Policy and Guideline Adherence
